01Common questions

The app is empty, or my dashboard says there is nothing to draw.

Punk-Records needs permission to read your media library. Open iOS Settings → Punk-Records and make sure Media & Apple Music is enabled. You also need an active Apple Music subscription — the app has nothing to read without one. A brand-new install starts with only the listening Apple already knows about, so the charts fill in as you play music.

Some plays are missing, or the times look wrong.

Apple only exposes a short window of recently-played tracks — roughly the last 90 — and does not always give an exact timestamp. Punk-Records fills gaps as best it can and marks how confident it is in each time. Signing in helps: the server polls that window on a schedule, so it catches plays that happened while the app was closed.

Do I have to sign in?

No. The app works fully without an account, keeping everything on your iPhone. Sign in with Apple only if you want your history to survive a reinstall or a new phone.

How do I delete my account and everything in it?

In the app: Settings → Delete account & data. It is immediate and permanent — no deactivated state, no grace period, no archived copy. If you cannot reach the app, email us from the address on your account and we will do it for you.

A song is on the wrong part of the mood map.

Mood positions come from a third-party dataset of audio characteristics, matched by recording code. It is occasionally wrong, especially for live versions, remasters and very new releases. Where we have no data at all we fall back to what is typical for the genre, which is a coarser guess. Send us the track and we will look.

The widget is not updating.

The widget refreshes on iOS's schedule, not on demand, and iOS delays it in Low Power Mode. Opening the app forces a fresh snapshot. If it is still stale after that, remove the widget and add it again.

Does it play music, or change my library?

No. Punk-Records never plays audio, never writes to your library and never makes playlists. It only reads.
